Potty Training Miss Kinley

A few weeks before her birthday, Kinley came home one day and said she wanted to use the potty! I sat her on it, and she went right away! Now, there had been two kids (Ashlyn and Cason) at Mrs. Karla's that had been potty training and she had been watching, which I am sure is what started the interest! That weekend, we didn't have anything planned, so we just kept going to the potty and drinking lots of juice and she did great! She isn't that motivated by candy, but she is very motivated by going to the park. It was still warm enough to go, so everytime she went potty that weekend, we went to the park! It was a lot! Karla said that if we sent her in panties on Monday, she would work with her, too!
Well, we sent her on Monday, and I don't believe she even had one accident! We were very proud of her and will have to remember that this isn't quite normal when it is Kason's turn!
She did hold her poo for awhile and we couldn't quite figure out how to get her to do that on the potty. So, I had gotten her some rain boots that were in the closet and since we know that she LOVES shoes, I told her that if she pooped in the potty, I would get her a new pair of shoes! Well, that did the trick, because the very next time she had to poop, she went in the potty! And then of course, she asked for the shoes! This little girl does not forget promises!

So, she has been potty trained every since! Now, she sleeps very deeply so she still wears a diaper at naptime and during the night, but I hear this can last forever! So, we are not trying any of this out yet!

She had never even had an accident at all until a couple weeks ago... and it was ALL my fault! We went to Wal-Mart after work and Kinley had mentioned that she needed to go potty at Karla's but I thought she was telling a story from earlier. So, when we got to the store, she wanted to ride the car with the monkey and I told her that we would when we were finished. As we were going through the store, she kept talking about the monkey and then she said that she needed to go potty so I thought she just wanted to go back to the front of the store. I told her to hold it a couple of times and then we were on the kitchen aisle and she started screaming bloody murder! I looked and there was a huge trail of pee all the way down the aisle and she was still going where I had stopped the cart! There was a HUGE puddle under our cart and she was still screaming! She had soaked her coat, pants, shoes, and everything! I didn't want to just leave it, so I tried to wipe it up the best I could with her coat and then warned a lady coming down the aisle. We found a worker and told him that we had made a huge mess! She is still screaming because she is soaking wet and I am trying to calm her down and tell her it's ok! So, we go to the back of the store where the clothes are and I strip her down and put some new pants on her so she isn't soaking wet. This at least calms her down so we can leave the store, but we still have to stop at the monkey! :) We looked a little white trash as we left the store in the freezing cold while I'm carrying Kinley with no shoes, no socks, and no coat on while her brother is all bundled up in the cart! We finally made it home and needless to say, we were all worn out! Hee hee! Can't wait to see what accidents Kason has in store for us!
