Update on Kinley

I haven't posted anything online about Kinley since her appointment because we've all been coming to terms with her situation and it's been a little rough. So, it turns out that Kinley's torticollis (the neck problem) is more severe than we thought. We have to do daily stretches as many times as possible during the day and we also have to do strengthening excerises as many times as possible (this is where she turns her head to the right all on her own). We stretch out the muscles (in super crazy positions), but she has to build them all on her own. She is doing great, the muscles don't seem as tight, but she still has a long way to go on developing those muscles that were never worked. From my research online, this may take as long as her first birthday or longer. Usually, once they start "getting it" something happens, such as teething, and they relapse back to what they were comfortable with and we have to start again. As far as her head goes, it was also much more severe than we expected. The torticollis is causing her to always lay on the top left corner of her head, which causes the right top corner to bulge out. Her ears are also starting to get out of alignment and her cheeks and eyes. (This is when I really freaked out) So, we are keeping her completely off her back as much as possible. She has to sleep on her right side so that the other side will grow to match (hopefully) and we are trying to keep her out of swings, carseats, bouncy seats, and anything that comes in contact with the back of her head (as much as possible). We will be trying all of these repositioning measures for 2 months but if it doesn't work, she will have to get a helmet for several months to reshape her head. If she does need the helmet, we would most likely have to go to Dallas once a week until her head was re-aligned.....probably at least 3 months. Please pray for her and believe with us that the repositioning will help on it's own!

These are some pictures of Kinley doing some strengthening exercises to turn her head to the right and a CRAZY stretch with Daddy!

Kason and Parker

When Parker came over, Kinley was asleep most of the time, but Kason was awake! They got to see each other for a little bit....it was pretty funny! Parker talked to him, but Kason just stared at him :) You can see it on the video!

Cousin Parker

Parker came over on Saturday with Nanny to play! He really loved playing with the dogs! Nana (Cheri) bought him a new toy to play with and he really liked that, too. It was very fun to get to play with my nephew! We read "Tickle Monster" with the finger puppets and he thought that was pretty cool! He turned 9 months the day he came over. Here are a couple videos of him to watch. :)

Kinley's Dr. Appt.

Kinley went to the dr. on Thursday for a weight check! She weighed 12 lbs and 7.5 oz! Wow! I can't believe how fast they grow! (this is her at her appt.)

I asked the dr. about her neck because she always has it cocked to one side. She can turn it the other way, but she won't if she has any choice at all. She does fine during tummy time, but she will crane that neck the other way anytime she can. Her pediatrician is referring her to a physical therapist because her neck muscles are too tight so we will see what happens. She also told me that she could be a candidate for a helmet because the back of her head is still flat and it hasn't rounded out. So, if we have to do that, we will, but I think that will be a little hard. Please pray for her :( I have no idea what to expect until this Thursday at her appt.

Wow! Feet!

Kason found his feet today! I was taking a video of kason because he was really talking when i noticed that he stopped completely! I noticed that he was staring quite hard at his feet and moving them slowly up and down! He was extremely focused. His feet have little Winnie the Pooh's on the footsies, and he was fascinated!

Poor Kason :(

Well, we had our first emergency room visit with Kason....Connie was out of town last week in Nebraska, and my mom (Nana) was watching the twins. I got a frantic call from her at work at 11:45 and she had accidently tripped over the kids' bathtub and fell while holding Kason. He landed on the back of his head on the carpet and it immediately swelled up. It was the scariest thing I have ever went through. We rushed him to St. Francis and they took their sweet time getting him in. Apparently a head injury on a 12 pound 3 month old isn't that urgent....I was furious! Anyway, by the time we left, we had the results from the cat scan and nothing was injured in his brain. Thank goodness! He does have a small linear skull fracture, but they said this is common (at least the ER thinks it is) in babies that have a fall. They said it should mesh back together and he sees a Neurosurgeon on March 11th to be sure. I took him to his pediatrician on Friday and she said that he looked fine and that we shouldn't be worried about anything, but that the swelling should round out by his 4 month checkup!
Poor guy! It all happened on the day he turned 3 months old!
Today, the swelling has begun to go down (mostly you can just see it in the back now), but he is still fussy and wanting lots of lovin'. I'm sure he still has a giant headache! He is still his happy self of course, though! In the pictures, you can see what his head looked like after the fall (it got a little bigger than what the picture shows) and a picture of him playing today!
He is one tough little boy!
He still needs prayers that his head will return to normal and that his fracture will heal, so please don't stop praying for him!

Drew's 1st B-day Party

Kinley and Kason went to their 2nd birthday party on Saturday!
Drew turned One on Sunday, February 22nd!
It was a rubber ducky party and there were lots of "Jarman kids". Jade, Eli, Cap, Isaac, Drew, Cole, Luke, Anna, Claire, Clay, Olivia, Allison, Kinley, and Kason were all there!
Drew's favorite present was a calculator that he received! He is playing with it in every picture that I took! Drew received a tunnel that Cap and Jade just LOVED! You can see Kinley above with the birthday boy! All her attention is on him! Kason is pooped from all of the excitement :)

Sleeping through the Night!

I think it may be safe to post this blog now :) (I'm still keeping my fingers crossed)
Kason has slept through the night (10-7) for 5 nights now in a row! Kinley is still working on it, she has slept through the night 3 of the 5 nights, but she is definitely on the right track!
Yay! Mommy & Daddy are super pumped about this new milestone! :)

Sissy passed Bubba

We went to the doctor on Thursday afternoon because the kids weren't eating as much as they had been before (for about 10 days) and I was getting a little worried....turns out there is nothing wrong, but the Dr. just wanted to do a weight check and see them to make sure that everything was ok.
They are just fine and of course, yesterday, they decided to eat their regular amount again. Probably since we took them to the dr.!
Kinley has passed Kason in weight! She weighs 11 lbs 14 oz and he weighs 11 lbs 13 oz.
Almost 12 lbs! I can't believe it! They are growing so fast!

2 Happy Babies

This is just a short video clip of the two of them happily playing with Mommy on her day off on President's Day!

Look how much he's grown!

The first picture of Kason drinking his bottle was taken on December 20th! I just can't believe he was that tiny just 2 short months ago! The other picture was taken on February 8th. So just a month and a half between the two. Crazy!

Kason's First Baseball Cap

Well, if you know Jason, it's a big surprise that Kason didn't have a baseball cap until Sunday! Parker gave him his old baseball hat and it was adorable! I'm sure it will get a lot of use :)

Our cousin Parker!

Aunt Kelly and Uncle Nick brought Kinley and Kason's cousin Parker over on Sunday for a cookout! Parker was a little interested in the kids, but not much just yet. He was more interested in their binkies! He is crawling now and crawled around quite a bit! He also liked their new swing as it put him to sleep :) They brought a ton of Parker's clothes to pass down to Kason and Mommy is working on sorting them out! They also brought over one of his toys that he used to love and the kids really like it :) They are fascinated with the lights that it makes! Parker is a little over 8 months old in this photo.

Their First Fight

The twins have this weird thing. They will NOT look at each other! No matter how close we put them, they refuse to look at one another. So, today, Jason and I put them on their sides as close as could be and still, they wouldn't do it! It didn't stop them from getting in their first fight though....they don't have any problem punching one another! (They weren't really fighting, but it sure does look like it!)

Kinley found her hands!

Today, February 15th, Kinley found her hands! She was laying on the changing pad and looking out the window (one of her absolute favorite places to be) and she just started moving her fists in front of her face and staring at them. Of course, Mommy grabbed the camera. Thank goodness I got an external hard drive for Christmas! Who knows how many pictures we have so far and they are only 11 1/2 weeks old!

Happy Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day, the twins got to spend the day with Mommy! Daddy had a basketball game, so we just played until he came home! Kason just loves the mobile and can't get enough of it....well, at least until he starts screaming :)
They got new matching overalls from Mommy and Daddy that Brooke and Sheri helped pick out, and they were so cute!
Then, after Daddy got home, we took them to GiGi's. Pam came all the way down from Kansas City to see them and watch them on V-Day! So, they played at GiGi's, took baths, and met Pam's dogs, Chase and Izzy! We went to see Paul Blart, Mall Cop which was VERY stupid. Don't go see it :)
Kinley was happy to see everyone and was really talking up a storm. You can see on the video :)

Valentine's Day Gifts

Kinley and Kason received a few Valentine's Day gifts! Gigi got them the Mickey Mouse Valentines outfits that you can see in the pictures :) Nana got them the Valentine's monkeys, and Grandma got them the Valentines pj's that Kinley is wearing and the giraffe pj's that Kason is wearing! Thank you everyone!

First Valentine's Party

Connie brought the kids to Mommy's school today for the Valentine's party! They got to go to their first Valentine's party in Sharon's class! She also went and picked up their friend, Cap and surprised Sharon! We had a great time and they got to meet a lot of excited children :) They also got to have their first sucker...just kidding!!

Connie also took the twins to Purple Glaze this week and had their feet painted and put onto a plate and then glazed! It was the sweetest thing! You can see a photo of it, it says, "We Love You! Kinley and Kason 2009" It will always be very special to us! Apparently Kinley didn't necessarily like getting her feet painted :) I'm sure she made it quite plain that she didn't like it too!
